    Michele Shelley Diane Huckins Harper

    Turn Again To Life
If I should die and leave you here a while,
Be not like others sore undone,
Who keep long vigil by the silent dust.
For my sake turn again to life and smile,
Nerving thy heart and trembling hand to do
Something to comfort other hearts than thine.
Complete these dear unfinished tasks of mine
And I perchance may therein comfort you.
      Mary Lee Hall

Michele Shelley Diane Huckins Harper, age 60, of Fort Mill, South Carolina and formerly of Beckley, West Virginia was taken to her eternal home with her savior Jesus Christ, after a sudden and unexpected illness on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Born in Joplin, Missouri, Michele was the fourth daughter of Sandra and Cecil Huckins. She graduated high school at Central Christian Academy and married shortly afterwards, moving to Beckley, WV, with her husband Doug Harper to raise their children. Shelley fiercely loved her family, as mother, coach, counselor, and through her soothing musical voice. A longtime medical clerk, Shelley was currently an employee of TeamHealth at Piedmont Medical Center at both Rock Hill and Fort Mill, where she worked closely with her work kids, the physicians and nurse practitioners who provided her care in her last hours.
For Shelley, work was not life. Life was in growth. She nurtured plants with an amazing green thumb. She also nurtured relationships, adopting everyone around her as her own, and always going out of her way to go the extra steps for a friend or a stranger. She helped grow the love of music, knowledge, and Christ to those around her. Her favorite venture was raising her two children and three grandchildren as "Nana". Shelley and her husband Doug loved music. Creating, recording, performing, and watching, she had a passion for bringing art and beauty into the world. Shelley had an inner strength and peace; she would support others even when she had other personal strains in life. Shelley existed to love, everyone who knew her felt that. The absence of that love will be sorely missed.
Shelley is survived by her children, Douglas Harper and Erin Kesner with her husband, Nathan, all of Fort Mill; siblings Lisa Wilkerson and her husband Gregg of Joplin, MO; Kim Lester and her husband Bruce of Joplin, MO; sister-in-law Judi Thomas and her husband Hayes of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Alexander, Ethan, and Emmett Kesner; and a host of nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt Nana". She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Harper, her parents, and her sister, Christy Whittington.
The family is hosting a visitation at 10am on March 17, 2023, at Bible Baptist Church in Fort Mill, with the Rev. James Parrish officiating a service at 11am.
The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside ceremony will be held at a later date in Union, WV.
