      William Eugene Griggs
      William "Bill" Eugene Griggs of Vinita died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at his home. He was 78. Griggs was born April 12, 1927, in Turkey Ford to Burt and Bessie (Hensley) Griggs. He returned to Oklahoma in 1977, moving from Colorado. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy. He was an auto mechanic by trade. He also did carpentry work. He married Bertie Pierson of Vinita in 1978. She survives, of the home. Additional survivors include seven daughters, Jackie Herrick of Centerville, Iowa, Pam Still of Waukee, Iowa, Sandra Largent of Aurora, Colo., Sheila Wilson of North Platte, Neb., Donna Winger of Morrison, Colo., Terry Kotowski of Broomfield, Colo., and Darcy Jo Callies of Henderson, Colo.; five stepchildren, Tracy Grant of Henderson, Larry Pierson of Lubbock, Texas, Linda Scott of Vinita, Peggy Greiner of Stillwater and Terry Pierson of The Colony, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Services were held at White Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Leland Bartlett and the Rev. Bob Whitchurch officiating. Burial location: Council House Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robbie Largent, Danny Crew, Steven Greiner, Tim Kotowski, Jim Grant and Terry Pierson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Still, Mike Winger, Homer Clouse, Marvin Griggs and Tom Greiner.
