      George Bighorse
      75, a longtime resident of Vallejo, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at Fort Miley Veterans Hospital, San Francisco after a brief illness. Born in Pawhuska, Okla., on April 6, 1931, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
      He worked for as a security guard at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and also as a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service.
      He was an avid sports fan.
      He is survived by his son, George Bighorse III of Vallejo; sister, Laura Johnson of American Canyon; brothers, Robert Bighorse of Vallejo, Frank (Louise) Bighorse and Charles (Beverley) Bighorse, both of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Andrew Bighorse, Anthony Bighorse and Angelique Bighorse; and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
      Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Wakon Iron Hall, Pawhuska, Okla., with tribal spiritual leader Eddie Red Eagle officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Pawhuska, Okla. Arrangements under the direction of Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. Donations are preferred to the American Heart Association.
