      Charles Reuben "Beaver" Howerton, 68 year old, Grove, OK resident passed away Friday, December 6, 2013. Beaver was born on April 5, 1945 to Mary Howerton in Claremore, OK. He graduated from Grove High School in 1963 and served as the Senior Class Vice President. He attended Northeastern State University. Beaver proudly served in the United States Navy and received The Purple Heart. He married Jannette (Tuttle) on December 2, 1969 in Jackson, Michigan. Beaver owned and operated Howerton Builders and The Village Kitchen. Beaver enjoyed fishing and jug lining. He loved catching catfish and crappie. He enjoyed growing tomatoes and other vegetables in his garden. Beaver loved to cook and make homemade meals and sweets for his family and friends, especially fudge and peanut brittle. He enjoyed bird watching and spending time with his three dogs, Sissy, Amos, and Andy. He loved horse racing. Beaver was also a huge Sooner Fan. Beaver was preceded in death by his mother, one aunt, and two uncles. He is survived by his wife Jan, of the home; two sons, C. Troy Howerton and Nancy Goodell of Oceanside, CA and Richard Duncan and his wife Cathy of Moore, OK; one daughter, Angie Howerton of Grove, OK; one brother, Ed Richardson of Fairland, OK; one sister, Lori Richardson of Grove, OK; his step-dad, Sherman Richardson; one aunt, Shirley Youngberg; one uncle, Fred Howerton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of very special lifelong friends. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church in Grove, OK. Bro. Gary Butler will officiate, along with Paul Barton from the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe. Interment will follow at Olympus Cemetery in Grove, OK, with the military honors provided by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK.
